Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This is the first novel in the Lux series and it is definitely something new in the paranormal romance genre.
Daemon Black is not your average alien and lead male character. He has his mood swings and he seems to hate being around Katy. Katy is the protagonist in the story and she had recently moved with her mother to this town that “isn’t a town”. One day, she decides to be brave and ask her neighbor for directions to the grocery store. However, she didn’t expect her neighbor to be this rude, hot guy.
Katy didn’t know that this would change her life forever. She becomes the best friend of Daemon’s twin sister Dee and this causes Daemon and his friends to constantly tell Katy that she doesn’t belong with them and that she will be Daemon’s downfall. It also doesn’t help that Daemon “marks” Katy when he saved her life… a couple of times.
Overall, this novel was well written and the characters were entertaining and witty. Katy, Dee, and Daemon are very likeable characters and readers won’t regret ever reading this novel! I can’t wait for the next novel in the series Onyx that is coming out on August 14, 2012.
