One of the best series that features a woman as the lead character. It is also a very original series because it’s not a vampire or werewolf series, it’s a series about Elemental Assassins. People these days have either the power to control stone, ice, fire, metal, etc. The main character is Gin Blanco a.k.a. the feared assassin Spider. Her family was killed by Mab Monroe, the most powerful Fire Elemental in the city. Gin controls both ice and stone, but the spider runes burned to her hands stops her ice elemental from becoming powerful.
The story wouldn’t be complete without romance in the midst. Will the tough Spider fall for Detective Donovan Caine, the man who can’t accept who she really is, or will she fall for Owen Grayson, the man who accepts her for who she really is and would do anything for her?
Oh yeah, her mentor was killed by an assassin, but he seems to have forgotten to tell Gin that her sister Bria is definitely alive. Bria doesn’t know who Gin is, but news is, she’s the new detective in town (she comes in during Book 3 I think…).
Gin also has friends who have known her for a long time and who she can trust through thick and thin. Finn is the handsome son of her mentor that can charm any woman he wants. Sophia is the dwarf who does not speak(only sometimes) because she was abused in the past. JoJo is Sophia’s sister who is an Air Elemental and can heal Gin and see the future.
So far there are 6 books in the series. The first two books aren’t so great because they introduce the story and the whole Elemental thing, but from book 3 and on it’s pretty much awesome!
