The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher

If you like Science Fiction/Fantasy, then you'll definitely love this series! This series focuses on Harry Dresden, a wizard for hire. Murphy, a cop, stumbles upon Harry's business and hires him to help her solve crimes. They have a rocky relationship; Murphy is a cop who has to abide by the laws, while Harry is a wizard who deals with supernatural stuff. It's a difficult life having to explain to humans how such weird things can happen and that witches, wizards, faes, and other creatures do exist.

You can't help but love Harry right from the start. I certainly did. He's a laid back wizard and he's awesome! He uses humor to deal with life's problems and it makes solving crime easier. He hasn't had the easiest childhood, especially being a wizard and all. Harry matures throughout this series. He goes through many difficult challenges and you're heart just goes out for him throughout the series. Harry Dresden is a character many will love. His journey is one you'll willingly participate in. 

I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I can't really say much. The series is full of action and mystery. This series pretty much introduced me to the world of science fiction & fantasy (along with Goodkind's Sword of Truth series). 

I definitely recommend this series. It's a great series and it's got action, mystery, romance, humor, and many more. There are also werewolves, wizards, witches, faes, cops, winter knights, vampires, and many more! I love the series and hopefully you will too!

My favorite is Changes, because it really shows how much Harry has changed and what he's going through. He had to make many difficult decisions in this book because of the life he lives. I hope Harry comes back (you'll know what happens in Ghost Story). 

Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind

This series is incredible! It is a mix of romance, science fiction, and thriller. If you’re a science fiction fan, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed! Well, until you find out that the series is over… unless Goodkind changes his mind.

The first book of the series is Wizard’s First Rule and it’s one of the best. It introduces readers to a whole different world… The novel starts with Richard Cypher (pay attention to his last name) seeing a woman in distress. He saves her from her attackers and finds out that she is Kahlan Amnell (she is a Confessor, but he doesn’t know that yet). Richard decides to help Kahlan so he takes her to his old friend Zedd (secretly a wizard). This is where Richard finds out about a whole new world just beyond their little town. There is a boundary that separates Kahlan’s and Richard’s worlds; however, the boundary is weakening and Kahlan crossed the border because Lord Rahl is slowly taking over Kahlan’s world. Kahlan is also there because she needs to find the Seeker, and so Zedd reluctantly names Richard the Seeker (Seeker of Truth) and he gives Richard the Sword of Truth. The Sword of Truth is a very powerful Sword, and Richard must learn to control his anger and the sword in order for him to be a successful Seeker. Richard and Kahlan then embark on a journey along with Zedd to the other side of the boundary where wizards, witches, and Mordsiths exist. Richard’s life will never be the same (Believe me, his life is forever changed). 

Kahlan and Richard begin to fall for one another as the days go by. However, Kahlan is the Mother Confessor and therefore she must choose her own strong mate. A Confessor’s touch is not one a man wants. A Confessor controls the person she touches, and that person will never be the same. However, Richard finds a way to be with Kahlan (I’ll let readers figure it out). 

There are currently 13 books in the series, counting Debt of Bones which is not needed to read to understand the series. The books are Stone of Tears, Blood of the Fold, Temple of the Winds, Soul of Fire, Faith of the Fallen, The Pillars of Creation, Naked Empire, Chainfire, Phantom, Confessor, andThe Omen Machine. My favorites are books 2, 3, 4, 9, and 10. I haven’t gotten to finish The Omen Machine yet, but I believe that it’ll be as good as the rest. The story gets more intense and interesting as it goes on, and the characters are definitely amazing and likeable. I like the Mord-Siths (group of women warries from D’Hara) because they were women who were taken by the old Lord Rahl when they were still young. They endured torture as their training and they grew up learning how to torture people after they had to kill their fathers. I like how loyal they were and how Richard allowed them to act freely and had given them the choice to either stay or leave. 

The series introduces many different types of creatures and powerful humans. It’s a very interesting world and it even has dragons in it. Richard and Kahlan mature as the story progresses and they also begin to learn their strengths and weaknesses. Richard also finds out who he really is and who his parents were. He thought his town was where he belonged, but his town betrays him in the end. He was a boy, then he became a man.

There is also a TV Show about this seres called Legend of the Seeker. It is a good series with good actors and actresses, but as usual, some events were changed. You should still check it out though if you love the series!
