Love Books Featuring Angels?

Then the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh is for you!
Elena Deveraux is a vampire hunter, pretty much the best one out there. She was hunter-born, which her father could not accept. Elena’s family was attacked by a rogue vampire when she was a little girl, and the vampire killed her 2 sisters and their mother. Elena, her father, and her youngest sister were the only ones who survived the attack. She’s hired by the archangel Raphael (The archangel of New York) to track down a rogue archangel.
Raphael is the youngest and probably the strongest out of all the archangels. His parents were both archangels, which makes him a rarity and makes people fear that he will turn rogue one day. He hired Elena to track down a fellow archangel, but he didn’t expect to desire the hunter…
So far the series has 4 books and 2 novellas out, + 1 coming out in September
The first 3 books revolve around Elena and Raphael’s story. I love the first 3 books and I believe that they are the best ones in the series so far…
The 4th book is about Dmitri, one of Raphael’s Seven.
The first four books are Angels’ Blood, Archangel’s Kiss, Archangel’s Consort, and Archangel’s Blade

This will be the next book in the series and it is Jason’s story: Archangel’s Storm
Release date: September 4, 2012

Elemental Assassin Series by Jennifer Estep

One of the best series that features a woman as the lead character. It is also a very original series because it’s not a vampire or werewolf series, it’s a series about Elemental Assassins. People these days have either the power to control stone, ice, fire, metal, etc. The main character is Gin Blanco a.k.a. the feared assassin Spider. Her family was killed by Mab Monroe, the most powerful Fire Elemental in the city. Gin controls both ice and stone, but the spider runes burned to her hands stops her ice elemental from becoming powerful.
The story wouldn’t be complete without romance in the midst. Will the tough Spider fall for Detective Donovan Caine, the man who can’t accept who she really is, or will she fall for Owen Grayson, the man who accepts her for who she really is and would do anything for her?
Oh yeah, her mentor was killed by an assassin, but he seems to have forgotten to tell Gin that her sister Bria is definitely alive. Bria doesn’t know who Gin is, but news is, she’s the new detective in town (she comes in during Book 3 I think…).
Gin also has friends who have known her for a long time and who she can trust through thick and thin. Finn is the handsome son of her mentor that can charm any woman he wants. Sophia is the dwarf who does not speak(only sometimes) because she was abused in the past. JoJo is Sophia’s sister who is an Air Elemental and can heal Gin and see the future.
So far there are 6 books in the series. The first two books aren’t so great because they introduce the story and the whole Elemental thing, but from book 3 and on it’s pretty much awesome!
Well, anyways, here are the books in the series so far:
1. Spider’s Bite
2. Web of Lies
3. Venom
4. Tangled Threads
5. Spider’s Revenge
6. By a Thread
I believe that book 7 is coming out soon… Widow’s Web will be releasing in August 21!

Sarah Dessen books!

Sarah Dessen is one of my favorite authors! She writes the best books and they are so simple and easy to read that it usually only takes me about a couple of hours to finish one book. Her books are usually fun to read during the summer or maybe when you’re just bored and have nothing else to do. Her books are also about real life problems and situations and many can definitely relate to her characters.
Well, here are my favorite Sarah Dessen books:

Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind

This series is incredible! It is a mix of romance, science fiction, and thriller. If you’re a science fiction fan, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed! Well, until you find out that the series is over… unless Goodkind changes his mind.
The first book of the series is Wizard’s First Rule and it’s one of the best. It introduces readers to a whole different world… The novel starts with Richard Cypher (pay attention to his last name) seeing a woman in distress. He saves her from her attackers and finds out that she is Kahlan Amnell (she is a Confessor, but he doesn’t know that yet). Richard decides to help Kahlan so he takes her to his old friend Zedd (secretly a wizard). This is where Richard finds out about a whole new world just beyond their little town. There is a boundary that separates Kahlan’s and Richard’s worlds; however, the boundary is weakening and Kahlan crossed the border because Lord Rahl is slowly taking over Kahlan’s world. Kahlan is also there because she needs to find the Seeker, and so Zedd reluctantly names Richard the Seeker (Seeker of Truth) and he gives Richard the Sword of Truth. The Sword of Truth is a very powerful Sword, and Richard must learn to control his anger and the sword in order for him to be a successful Seeker. Richard and Kahlan then embark on a journey along with Zedd to the other side of the boundary where wizards, witches, and Mordsiths exist. Richard’s life will never be the same (Believe me, his life is forever changed).
Kahlan and Richard begin to fall for one another as the days go by. However, Kahlan is the Mother Confessor and therefore she must choose her own strong mate. A Confessor’s touch is not one a man wants. A Confessor controls the person she touches, and that person will never be the same. However, Richard finds a way to be with Kahlan (I’ll let readers figure it out).
There are currently 13 books in the series, counting Debt of Bones which is not needed to read to understand the series. The books are Stone of Tears, Blood of the Fold, Temple of the Winds, Soul of Fire, Faith of the Fallen, The Pillars of Creation, Naked Empire, Chainfire, Phantom, Confessor, andThe Omen Machine. My favorites are books 2, 3, 4, 9, and 10. I haven’t gotten to finish The Omen Machine yet, but I believe that it’ll be as good as the rest. The story gets more intense and interesting as it goes on, and the characters are definitely amazing and likeable. I like the Mord-Siths (group of women warries from D’Hara) because they were women who were taken by the old Lord Rahl when they were still young. They endured torture as their training and they grew up learning how to torture people after they had to kill their fathers. I like how loyal they were and how Richard allowed them to act freely and had given them the choice to either stay or leave.
The series introduces many different types of creatures and powerful humans. It’s a very interesting world and it even has dragons in it. Richard and Kahlan mature as the story progresses and they also begin to learn their strengths and weaknesses. Richard also finds out who he really is and who his parents were. He thought his town was where he belonged, but his town betrays him in the end. He was a boy, then he became a man.
There is also a TV Show about this seres called Legend of the Seeker. It is a good series with good actors and actresses, but as usual, some events were changed. You should still check it out though if you love the series!

The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare

Simply put: This series is amazing! At first I thought this series would get even more boring as it goes on, but it actually gets better, more intense, and more mature.
There are currently 5 books out, and the 6th one coming soon. The first book City of Bones might not interest some people as much as the other books. It introduces the readers to the Clary’s world and the Shadowhunters. Clary is finding out about who she really is and who her parents were. Her mother hid their real identities because her real father wants her dead. She also meets Jace, a boy she definitely should not be hanging out with nor should she even like him. She can’t explain why she can see Jace and the Shadowhunters when they don’t want to be seen, and this moment changed Clary’s life forever…
City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels, and City of Lost Souls are the other books in the series (they’re in order). I personally think that as the series goes on, the story gets even better and crazier (in a good way). I’m currently still reading City of Lost Souls because I have been reading a lot of books as I read this. So far, so good. Jace and Clary get closer as the series goes on. In the beginning, Jace and Clary’s relationship was forbidden because they were forced to believe that they were related by their “dad” Valentine. However, (spoiler alert!) Clary is actually Valentine’s daughter while Jace was taken out of another woman’s womb because the woman was dead. Clary’s real brother is Sebastian (Jonathan) and that he was the one given demon blood, not Jace. The story of the series might sound confusing and annoying, but when you actually read it, it will all make sense. So far my favorite is City of Fallen Angels but City of Lost Souls might actually change my mind…
The verdict: Good series, definitely for the older YA, and 4/5 stars.

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This is the first novel in the Lux series and it is definitely something new in the paranormal romance genre.
Daemon Black is not your average alien and lead male character. He has his mood swings and he seems to hate being around Katy. Katy is the protagonist in the story and she had recently moved with her mother to this town that “isn’t a town”. One day, she decides to be brave and ask her neighbor for directions to the grocery store. However, she didn’t expect her neighbor to be this rude, hot guy.
Katy didn’t know that this would change her life forever. She becomes the best friend of Daemon’s twin sister Dee and this causes Daemon and his friends to constantly tell Katy that she doesn’t belong with them and that she will be Daemon’s downfall. It also doesn’t help that Daemon “marks” Katy when he saved her life… a couple of times.
Overall, this novel was well written and the characters were entertaining and witty. Katy, Dee, and Daemon are very likeable characters and readers won’t regret ever reading this novel! I can’t wait for the next novel in the series Onyx that is coming out on August 14, 2012.

How to Drive a Dragon Crazy Excerpt

EXCERPT (Unedited/Unproofed)

“Why don’t I go?” the human male said, trying to keep the tremor from his voice.

“Why don’t you?”

“Yeah. I’ll…uh…yeah…” He quickly walked out of the tent and Éibhear grinned.

After all these years, he shouldn’t enjoy doing that sort of thing…but he did.

Still…where the hell was Izzy?

Thinking he should go track down his cousin, Éibhear was reaching for the tent flap when he heard from behind him, “…game with me…arrrggghhhh!” He spun around at the scream.

“I bloody hate when you do that!” Izzy yelled up at the tent ceiling.

“Where the hells did you come from?” Éibhear demanded, knowing he would have heard the woman come back in if she’d snuck in under another part of the tent.

But he must have startled her because Izzy snatched the small blade she had holstered to her thigh, spun, and threw it at Éibhear’s head. He jerked to the side in time to avoid the damn thing impaling his nose, but the blade tore across his cheek instead, leaving a healthy sized gash.

Fed up and bleeding, Éibhear barked, “Izzy! It’s me!”

And Izzy barked back, “Yeah. I know!”

*****

Brannie rushed in to the tent, dark brown eyes blinking wide. “Izzy? Where did you come from?”

“Out, Branwen,” Éibhear ordered his cousin and Izzy looked at Brannie, watched the dragoness begin to get irritated with her kin.

“I don’t take orders from you, Éibhear the Blue.”

“And I”—Éibhear placed his huge hand over Brannie’s face and forced her back out the tent—“take orders from no one!”

“That was just rude, you big bastard!” Brannie yelled from outside the tent.

Éibhear faced Izzy. “Why do you keep throwing things at my head?”

“It’s such a large target—”

“Izzy.”

“Why are you here, Éibhear?” she asked, frustrated. The conversation with Rhydderch Hael…it annoyed her. It had been more than a decade since she’d heard from him. It used to bother her. For years, when she was a child, Rhydderch Hael had been with her. She’d been taken from her mother at birth by a bitch goddess and it was Rhydderch Hael who’d protected her. He’d sent three loyal human soldiers to save her, to watch out for her. For years Izzy and her three Protectors had traveled around the Southlands, the god’s voice in her head, sometimes in her dreams, promising that one day she’d be with her mother again. And he’d kept that promise. Izzy had loved him then. Not just as a god, but as someone who cared for her. But her mother had tried to warn her. Tried to tell her that the gods were never to be trusted. Izzy hadn’t listened, though, and now Rhydderch Hael wanted something from her. What that was…she had no idea. But she wasn’t looking forward to it, she knew that much.

So having Éibhear here when she was already irritated, looking annoyingly adorable with those damn warrior braids in his blue hair, but acting pushy and demanding, did nothing but piss her off.

“I was sent to get you,” he explained, watching her closely. Probably confused as hell. Good! Let him be confused. “To bring you back to Garbhán Isle.”

“Why? I’ve heard nothing from my mother or Rhi,” she said, mentioning her baby sister.

“I was just told to bring you back.”

“By who?”

“Ragnar.”

Izzy groaned at that. “Oh, gods.”

“What?”

“If you heard from Ragnar, he heard from Keita who heard from Morfyd or Briec, which means—”

“Tell me this ends at some point.”

“—Mum and Rhi are going at it again.” She shook her head and walked over to the large, plain wood desk that was covered in maps and missives and weapons. “I don’t have time for this.”

“You don’t have time for your mother and sister?”

She faced him. “You have nerve to talk. When were you home last?”

Instead of answering her direct question, he pointed at her arm and asked, “Your arm…it’s healed rather quickly.”

Now she didn’t answer him. The last thing she needed was for Éibhear the Blue to know about her conversation with Rhydderch Hael. Gods…what a mess that would be.

“I’m not going back to Garbhán Isle, Éibhear.”

“You’re not?”

“If it was important, Annwyl would have sent messengers for me. So my mother and Rhi will have to work this out on their own or wait until I’m done here.”

“Until you’re done doing what?”

Izzy focused on the map spread out on the table, looking for places the enemy might hide. “The Queen wants the ogres wiped clean from this region. And that’s what I’m going to do.”

“All right then.”

But instead of leaving, Izzy looked up to see the big bastard take off his fur cape and toss it onto a nearby chair. Then he began to remove the many weapons he had strapped on his body.

Fascinated—gods, was he getting naked? And would she mind?—Izzy walked around the table and leaned her butt against it, arms crossing over her chest. Éibhear removed the majority of his weapons until he finally was able to drop onto her bed and stretch out with his arms behind his head, incredibly long legs crossed at the ankles.

When he closed his eyes and let out an exhausted sigh, she finally asked without rancor, “What the battle-fuck are you doing?”

“Me?”

“Yes. You.”

“I’m Mì-runach. I don’t stop until I fulfill my duty.”

“Which means what exactly?”

“That until you’re ready to go, I’m here with you. By your side. Attached to you until I can deliver you to Garbhán Isle.”

“Attached to me?”

“Aye.”

“Like a parasite?”

“I prefer loyal companion. But don’t worry.” He smiled up at her. “You’ll get used to me.”

Somehow, Izzy doubted that.
