Rescue My Heart by Jill Shalvis

Readers finally get Adam's story! This is the third novel in Jill Shalvis' series Animal Magnetism
Adam is the quiet and mysterious Connelly brother and now we get a chance to find out why. Adam's life was heading downhill when Holly's father suggested for him to join the military. Since then, the young man became a man who hides his emotions from the world. Something happened while he was in the military, and ever since then, he hasn't been the same.

Holly is the typical heroine. She's rich, beautiful, and tough. She has a secret past with Adam and she hasn't forgiven him for breaking her young, foolish heart. However, Holly's father is missing, and she has no choice but to beg for the help of the only man she'd ever loved.

The story was great and heartwarming. The characters were well-developed and the plot wasn't annoying or repetitive. We knew it wasn't going to be an easy relationship before reading the book because Adam is such a secretive and complex character. Holly was a good fit for Adam and the author did a great job developing their old feelings for one another into something stronger and more complex. The dogs were great additions, and since I love dogs, it made me like the story even more.

I recommend this book to anyone who's a fan of romance, pets, and action.

The next novel in the series will feature Holly's best friend Kate and Holly's brother Grif!
